How to send a document for signature (PDF eSign guide)

Step-by-step: upload a PDF, place signature fields, add signers, send secure links, and download the completed Certificate of Completion with Doxufy.

Published 2026-09-12

What you need

A PDF of the agreement (up to 25 MB on Doxufy), the email addresses of everyone who must sign, and clarity on signing order if the document must be sequential. Signers do not need a Doxufy account.

Step 1 — Upload the PDF

Create a free account at doxufy.com, open a new document, and upload your PDF. Files are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256).

Step 2 — Place fields

Drag signature, initials, date, text, and checkbox fields onto the pages where they belong. Assign each field to the correct signer so nobody is asked for the wrong information.

Step 3 — Add signers and order

Enter each signer's name and email. Optional: set a signing order so Party A must finish before Party B is notified — useful for approvals and multi-party contracts.

Step 4 — Send and track

Send with one click. Each signer gets a unique secure link by email, reviews the document on any device, completes their fields, and submits. You get notified on view/complete/decline events. Average signing time for typical documents is under two minutes.

Step 5 — Download the completed package

When everyone finishes, parties receive the completed PDF plus a Certificate of Completion with a tamper-evident audit trail. Store that package with your records.
